INTEREST IN THE ARCTIC REGIONS has increased tremendously at Dartmouth in the past few years, as it has throughout the entire country. To tell us something about this polar area, which the more imaginative and excitable picture as a future battleground, the ALUMNI MAGAZINE invited Trevor Lloyd, Professor of Geography and a recognized authority on the Far North, to contribute this month's lead article, The Arctic, beginning on Page 13. A brief supplementary article (Page 17) describes Dartmouth's own Arctic activities, one of the leading college programs of its kind in the country.
April is one of the months when the subject of admissions is most timely. The editors are pleased to present Concerning Admissions (Page 20) by E. Clifford Bean '16, chairman of the Alumni Council's Committee on Admissions and Schools, whose report at the last Council meeting was so interesting and helpful that the editors prevailed upon him to do this article covering much of the same ground.
Our series of reports from Dartmouth men abroad is resumed this month with Letterfrom Oxford by Charles G. Bolte '41, Rhodes Scholar and one of the best known of Dartmouth's younger alumni. His readable "letter" starts on Page 23.
