A COMMITTEE headed by Richard H. Morton '36 has been formed to sponsor a memorial plaque to be placed in Alumni Gymnasium as a tribute to the late Patrick J. "Pat" Kaney, veteran Dartmouth gym coach and assistant professor of physical education who died September 23, 1948.
During his 34 years at Dartmouth, "Pat" Kaney's gym teams were considered among the finest in the country. He was often cited for his tireless work contributing to the physical conditioning of squad members of various Dartmouth varsity teams, for his instruction of classes in the required physical education program for undergraduates not participating in varsity sports, and for administering generally to the physical needs of literally thousands of Dartmouth men.
Contributions to the "Pat Kaney Memorial" may be sent either to Mr. Morton at 21 Leewood Road, Wellesley, Mass. or to Prof. Louis C. Mathewson, Hanover.
DARTMOUTH DISPLAY IN NORWAY: Under the sponsorship of the U. S. information Service, actively aided and abetted by Franklin R. Stern '48 and Odd Ramsay '47 (shown above in uniform), a display of Dartmouth photographs and literature was staged in Oslo in March. The College was used to represent American higher education to the citizens of Oslo and the response was so pleasing to the Information Service that the display was kept up a week longer than the usual two-week period. A Dartmouth film was also sent to Oslo by the College for use in connection with the exhibit.
