Best Class Treasurer
June 1949

For his outstanding work as class treasurer of 1906, Norman Russell was honored as the best class treasurer of the year at the annual meeting of class and club officers in Hanover on May 6. The citation for this award, presented at the annual dinner in Thayer Hall, was as follows:

Among the devoted Dartmouth men who serve their classes and the College in the very important position of class treasurer is one whose outstanding and impressive record should receive wide recognition and our highest honor. Norman Russell 'O6 has perfected the organization and operation of class finances. Not only do all graduates of 1906 receive the ALUMNI MAGAZINE but also all non-graduates. The entire membership of his class is thus kept in close touch with each other and with the College every month. This is the objective of every other class.

This is nothing new to 1906 where the percentage of quota for ALUMNI MAGAZINE circulation has averaged 131% over the past twelve years.

Norman Russell has followed the recommended policy of setting class dues at a figure which provides enough margin to give the class a strong financial position. He has found it possible to collect dues of $6.00 per year from more than 70% of his class, and the dues are high enough to avoid any threat of red figures on his books. We are happy to give the Class Treasurer's Award of the Year to Norman Russell 'O6.
