Churchill Prize

THE WILLIAM S. CHURCHILL PRIZE for the outstanding Dartmouth freshman of 1948-49 was awarded last month to Allan R. Gschwind '53 of Utica, N. Y. The award, which consists of a set of books, is made by the Dean of Freshmen to the firstyear student who "possesses to the highest degree the qualifications of manliness, uprightness, fairness and respect for duty."

A navy veteran, Gschwind is president of his class. He prepared for college at U tica Free Academy.
