Class Agent and President, JAMES W. NEWTON 456 E. New England Ave., Winter Park, Fla.
Members of the class will be interested in the following portion of a letter written to the ALUMNI MAGAZINE by: C. A. Palmer, 675 Boylston St., Boston, who is the father of three Dartmouth men, Cap Palmer Jr. '23, Ted Palmer '29 and Hank Palmer '41:
"About 1920, there was a big celebration at Hanover. On the Dartmouth Special train, two of my Rotarian buddies, Bill Hatch and Billy Newton, inquired where I was staying. Said I would probably bunk in: with Cap Jr. who was then a freshman. They replied, 'No, you are staying with us at Middle Mass and your name is Quimby, a prominent Boston lawyer who had to cancel his reservation at the last minute.' They said my nickname was 'Quibe' and that I was quite a roun kr in my day. The '86 members from the West who had not seen Quibe for more than 30 years could not understand how I had changed so much and retained my youth. Told them I had cut out my evil habits and lived a good upright life.
"I would have been nine years of age had I graduated in '86. Quite a phenomenon. Dur- ing the class reunion dinner at the Inn, Billy Newton introduced me and told them the joke. In their exuberance, they adopted or elected me a member of their class and insisted on my marching around the Campus the next morning with them to Webster Hall. Guess people must have wondered at their young-looking member. I am now retired except for representing Ideal Pictures who have the largest libraries of entertainment, educational and religious films in the country."
