CHRISTMAS: Traditionally, in Cleveland, this is the time when local alumni entertain at luncheon aspiring Dartmouth applicants. This year, almost too appropriately, our first speaker at the Sheraton-Cleveland Hotel affair was Eddie Chamberlain '36, Director of Admissions. He proved again to well over 100 alumni, 50 applicants, and fathers of the latter why he directs the Dartmouth admissions process; only a liberally-educated man could deny the pleas of more than 3000 secondary school seniors annually, yet face the task again another year.

Past-president Wally Meckes '42 arranged everything from ticket-taking to arranging the fascinating undergraduate's view of The College semantically presented by Senior Chris Knight '65. Chris, by the way, is independent enough not to insist always on paddling his own canoe; he is our local celebrity who joined other Dartmouth undergraduates last summer on a now-famous trip down the Danube. His proud father, Charles L.Knight '32, is readily recognized as the-most-likely to father such spirited sons as Chris.

TIME FOR A CHANGE: It comes again this year on Thursday, March 25! President Andy Carstensen '45 will then preside at the annual dinner meeting of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Cleveland, at the Sheraton-Cleveland Hotel. Of importance then will be the election of new DAAC officers, for 1965-66.

Sachem John Sloan Dickey, however, may well draw more attention then. Andy has cheerfully shortened his tenure by one month so that all of the more than 600 Cleveland-area alumni and their wives, dates, and other cheerful female companions will have the opportunity of greeting and hearing President John Dickey '29 on his anniversary visit.

President Dickey began his chores on the chicken-and-roast-beef circuit right here in Cleveland some twenty years ago, in his first year as Dartmouth president!
