Fundamentals of Arctic and Cold WeatherMedicine and Dentistry by Cmdr. H. B. Eisberg '36 and Lt. J. E. Owens, has been published by the Research Division, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery of the U. S. Navy Department. This is a pamphlet of 202 pages. The first monograph in the book of 168 pages is by Cmdr. Eisberg and is entitled Arcticand Cold Weather Medicine. The first part of this monograph will be of interest to the general reader because it describes the flora and fauna of the arctic regions, giving a good many drawings of edible fruits and berries as well as edible greens, roots and bulbs that are found there. It also gives descriptions and pictures of poisonous plants. Other sections deal with sanitation, medical supplies and equipment, winter training, snow blindness, etc.
