Great Issues Welcomes First Woman Lecturer

THE first woman lecturer to participate in the Great Issues Course will be Vera M. Dean, Research Director of the Foreign Policy Association, who is scheduled to speak on the subject, "Soviet Foreign Policy" on February 20.

The opening lecture of the third section of the Great Issues Course, which deals with "Peace for the Good Society," will be given on February 6 by George F. Kennan, one of the top policy makers of the State Department, on "Basic Factors in American Foreign Policy."

On February 13, Prof. George S. Counts, of Teachers College, Columbia University, will speak on "Objectives and Tactics of International Communism Today." The last lecture in February will take place on the 27th, when students will hear Owen D. Lattimore, a member of the faculty of Johns Hopkins, speak on the Far East. Professor Lattimore is the author of TheMaking of Modern China, as well as of other books and articles dealing with the East. His father, David Lattimore, is Professor of History, Emeritus.
