It is with the deepest regret that the editors, at press time, add the news of the death of Mrs. Celia Stone Hopkins, wife of President Emeritus Ernest Martin Hopkins. Mrs. Hopkins, 72, died at her Hanover home on May 18 after a long illness.
Known to thousands of alumni as the gracious, kindly First Lady of Dartmouth, she devoted long years to the service of the College and the Hanover community. She was married to Mr. Hopkins in 1911, five years before he assumed the Presidency, and for nearly thirty years was official hostess at the President's House and at other coltege gatherings and ceremonies.
Funeral services were held in Rollins Chapel on the afternoon of May 19, with the Rt. Rev. John T. Dallas '22h, until recently Episcopal Bishop of New Hampshire, officiating. Burial was in the Pine Knoll Cemetery in Hanover.
