Many have felt that some kind of memorial project should be undertaken for John Clark '32. As a result of wide discussion, a group of John's intimates —Ping Ferry '32 and Chuck Owsley '32, Chuck O'Neill '31, Charley Moore '25, Al Dickerson '30, and John's brother, Alex Clark '38, with some consultation with Mike Cardozo '32, class secretary —have decided to proceed with the commissioning of a good portrait and with the collection and printing in book form of a biographical sketch and selections from John's articles, editorials, letters and other writings.
The portrait is to be hung at Dartmouth College, possibly in a room in Baker Library which will be used as a workshop or public affairs laboratory for the Great Issues Course, which John helped to start.
For the book, everyone is asked to make available as many of John's letters as possible. They may be sent to Alexander Clark, 416 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge 38, Mass. Originals will be returned if requested. Interesting photographs, anecdotes, biographical notes or other items are also greatly desired. They should be sent in as promptly as possible, as it is hoped to complete the compilation shortly.
Charley Moore is acting as treasurer for the project, helped by Ping Ferry, both at Earl Newsom Inc., 597 Madison Ave., New York 22, N. Y. As set up now, the plan does not offer income tax deductibility for contributions.
