Dartmouth's thrilling 5-3 victory in the hockey game dedicating the new St. Lawrence artificial rink had an unexpected aftermath when Robert L. Deery '38 of Carthage, N.Y., wrote out a $500 check on the spot and gave it to Coach Eddie Jeremiah to be applied toward an artificial hockey rink in Hanover.

This generous gesture arose from the feeling that if Dartmouth, handicapped by little chance to practice, could put on such a fighting, heads-up performance, the team deserved the advantages now enjoyed by St. Lawrence in its $450,000 Appleton Rink. The Green puckmen not only spoiled the dedication from St. Lawrence's point of view but also snapped the home team's 17 game winning streak.

The $500 contributed by Mr. Deery has been deposited with the Treasurer of the DCAC for safe keeping.
