H. RICHARDSON LANE '07 of Boston will assume over-all responsibility for the Dartmouth Development Program, it was announced last month by President Dickey, following the annual spring meeting of the Board of Trustees. As part of this general responsibility, Mr. Lane will direct the work of the Dartmouth Develanother opment Council, of which he was recently elected chairman.
Mr. Lane is former president and now chairman of the executive committee of the Kendall Company, Boston, manufacturers of cotton textiles and surgical dressings. As chairman of the Development Council he will devote a substantial amount of time to direction of the Col- lege's expanding development program, with the current major objective of strengthening Dartmouth's endowment for salaries and scholarships.
Long active in Dartmouth affairs, Mr. Lane has served as an alumni member of the Athletic Council, as president of the Dartmouth Secretaries Association, and as a member of the Alumni Council. He is a past president of the Boston Alumni Association and is now secretary of the Class of 1907.
Mr. Lane has been associated with the Dartmouth Development Council since its formation in 1949 and also has served on the Council's Policy Committee. As chairman he succeeds Sigurd S. Larmon '14, president of Young and Rubicam, Inc., and a Trustee of the College, who will continue as a member of Dartmouth's fund-raising policy committee. Other mem- bers of this committee, in addition to Mr. Lane, are Harvey P. Hood '18, Boston; John L. Sullivan '21, Washington, D. C.; Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, Hanover; and John F. Meek '33, Treasurer of the College, Hanover.
