Mr. Robinson spoke on "Federal Debt Management in Wartime" at the December meetings of the American Economics Association in Detroit.

Mr. Katz is the author of "Skills of an Effective Administrator" in the January-February issue of the Harvard Business Review.

Dean Upgren attended the annual meetings of the American Economic Association at Detroit during the Christmas holidays.

Tuck students staged a highly enjoyable Christmas party in Stell Hall just before vacation. Formal music was presented by the Tuck Chorus under the skilled leadership of Pete Kenyon. Informal music was presented by practically everyone. Santa Claus Alpert suggested an appropriate gift for each member of the faculty.

Mr. Katz and 70 first-year students recently inspected the plant of the Brown Company in Berlin, N. H.

The class in General Business Conditions has prepared charts on the subject of the performance of the United States economy in 1953-54; the "liquidity" development of the American banking system; the balance in the international accounts of the United States in the 1950s compared to the latter 19405; and the amount of public and private debt in the United States. The figures contained in these charts are available in brief mimeographed form upon request.

Lecturers in December included HarrisRichardson Jr. T'42, Old Colony Trust Company, Boston; and Harry Gustafson Jr. T'46, Procter & Gamble Distributing Company, Boston.

A third vocational guidance panel on marketing featured as speakers Harry Gustafson;Bob Grady T'47, Procter & Gamble Distributing Company; Clarke Church D' 49, Procter & Gamble Distributing Company, Manchester; Dick Echikson T'51, Macy's; and Craig Murphy D'51, International Business Machines Company.

Jack Grimm III '44 has moved to J. B. Williams Company as vice president in charge of marketing; Ed Weisenfeld T'52 is with Equitable Paper Bag Company; Bill Hands T'36 reported in person on the joys of life in Rio de Janeiro where he is retail sales manager for Esso-Standard; Harry Midgley Jr. T'41 is now vice president of Worcester County Trust Company; Larry Blood T'49 is district manager for Chevrolet, with headquarters at Ithaca.

Tuck alumni will be saddened to learn of the death of Hike Newell T'21 in December. Hike was always very solicitous for the welfare of the School and for the past year had been Chairman of the Board of Overseers. He was a guest lecturer on many occasions in the 33 years since his graduation.

We also regret to report the death of PeteLebovitz T'53. Pete had an excellent record both at Tuck and in his Navy career. He, too, was a loyal alumnus of the School.
