Speaking on "Dartmouth and the National Emergency," Edward T. Chamberlain Jr. '36, executive officer of the College, addressed alumni serving in the New Hampshire Legislature and the New Hampshire State Government at a luncheon April 19, in Concord, N. H. This was the third consecutive session of the Legislature during which such a gathering of Dartmouth men was held. Lane Dwinell '28, Speaker of the House, presided and made the introductions; attorney Dudley W. Orr '29 represented the College Trustees. James C. Bingham '18, legislative agent for the Boston and Maine Railroad, made all the arrangements for the luncheon meeting.

Members of the New Hampshire Senate present were Blaylock Atherton '22, President, and Stanley M. Brown '39. Senate members unable to attend were J. Walker Wiggin '30 and Thomas H. Burbank '24. State Representatives who were at the luncheon were Robert C. Hazel ton '27, James F. Malley '11, Nathaniel F. Davis '07, Perkins Bass '34, Philip H. Blodgett '15, J. Elmer Harrington '16, Finlay P. Sleeper '06, Lane Dwinell '28, Fred A. Jones '06, George L. Hurd, father of Kenneth '23, and Fred T. Wadleigh, father of Winthrop '23.

Other Dartmouth men now serving in the House of Representatives are Charles W. Tobey Jr. '35, C. Murray Sawyer '28, Bowdoin Plumer '12, and Charles A. Holden '95.

Other branches of the State government were represented at the luncheon by William J. Ahern '07, Forestry and Recreation Division; Carroll A. Durfee '30, State Police; Percy H. Howland '17, Tax Commission; and Perne R. Hutchinson '17, Employment Security.

In all there are 17 Dartmouth men serv- ing in the New Hampshire General Court at present. Since the early days of the College, alumni have been active in government in New Hampshire. They form today an imposing list of lawmakers. Besides those serving in the Senate or House are the following:
