FOR 147 students in the Dartmouth NROTC Unit the summer involves training either at sea or at naval bases, as part of the regular NROTC program. A group of 35 contract students in the class of 1952 a sailed from Norfolk on June 21 with Cruise Baker, which called for three weeks of maneuvers in the Caribbean by a heavy cruiser and five destroyers.
Another Dartmouth group, of 40 sophomores, will spend three weeks on amphibious training at Little Creek, Va„ followed by three weeks of aviation indoctrination at Pensacola. At the end of July, the largest group, comprising 30 regulars from the class of 1951 and 39 freshman regulars, will sail with Cruise Dog which for six weeks will operate along the Eastern seaboard, sailing from Norfolk to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and then to Boston, New York and Cuba, returning September 14.
Prof. Allen R. Foley 'so, chairman of the History Department, will be the guest of the Navy, as Dartmouth's representative, on the cruise to Halifax.
