The following books are on the subject of Industrial Relations which includes Personnel Administration and Labor Relations. These were suggested by Prof. J. E. Walters of the Amos Tuck School of Busness Administration.

Personnel Administration HOW TO ESTABLISH AND MAINTAINA PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT. American Management Association, Inc., New York, Research Report No. 4, 1944. A good statement of how to establish and maintain a personnel department, with emphasis upon translating personnel policies into practice: employment, training, safety, health, benefits and services; employee-employer relations; research; and other personnel subjects.

ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT. Chester I. Barnard (Harvard, 1948). A discussion of the basic ideas of personnel organization and management.

HUMAN RELATIONS IN INDUSTRY. Burleigh B. Gardner and David C. Moore (Irwin, 1950). An up-to-date description of industrial relations from the viewpoint of human and social relationships.

PERSONNEL HANDBOOK. Edited by John F. Mee (Ronald, 1951). A good handbook which covers the various fields in personnel and labor relations.

PERSONNEL RELA TIONS. J. E. Walters (Ronald, 1945). This book develops the principles and practices of the various subjects of personnel administration and labor-management relations, with special emphasis upon the applications of principles to industry and to democracy.

Labor-Management Relations MUTUAL SURVIVAL. E. Wight Bakke (Harper, 1946). Develops the various viewpoints of managements and unions toward each other and the problems of reaching the goal of mutual survival.

ORGANIZED LABOR AND PRODUCTION. Morris L. Cooke and Philip Murray (Harper, 1940). The late president of the C.1.0. and a prominent engineer collaborate to present the problems of labor and management and the authors' suggestions for common solutions in a free society.

THE DYNAMICS OF INDUSTRIAL DEMOCRACY. Clinton S. Golden and Harold J. Ruttenberg (Harper, 1942). A splendid statement and explanation of the principles of labor-management relations from the unions' viewpoint.

MANAGEMENT AT THE BARGAINING TABLE. Lee H. Hill and Charles R. Hook Jr. (McGraw-Hill, 1945). The approach to and application of collective bargaining by management, covering the content and techniques of management's bargaining with organized labor.

LABOR RELATIONS AND HUMANRELATIONS. Benjamin M. Selekman (McGraw-Hill, 1947). An excellently expressed statement of some of the main problems and the principles of labor relations.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING. Leonard J. Smith (Prentice-Hall, 1946). A good presentation of the basic principles of collective bargaining. Includes examples and samples of contracts.
