Fathers' Weekend
February 1952

THE third annual Fathers' Weekend sponsored by the freshman class will be held at Dartmouth on February 15, 16 and 17. Last year, some 250 fathers from 21 states and Canada came to Hanover for the weekend, and a large turnout is expected this year for what has become one of the most successful innovations at the College

in recent years. Fathers will attend classes with their freshman sons, consult with professors, experience dormitory life and Commons meals, and generally share in the normal activities of first-year students. Two formal events will be a dinner Saturday evening, with President Dickey and Dean Stearns Morse as speakers, and a smoker that same evening following the Dartmouth-Brown hockey game. Prof. Allen R. Foley '20 will speak at the smoker and the Glee Cluh "Injunaires" will sing.

The athletic program for the weekend offers the Dartmouth-Yale basketball game, the Dartmouth-St. Lawrence hockey game, and a freshman swimming meet with Deerfield. An exhibition of ski jumping at the Big Jump is scheduled, and two Dartmouth films, My First Week at Dartmouth and Dartmouth Outdoors, will be shown.

Eliot A. Smith '55 is in charge of the weekend program.
