The Harvey P. Hood Trophy for1951, awarded to the best class agentin the classes 11 to 25 years out of college, was presented to Richard W. Bowlen '3O at the Boston Alumni Fund dinner on April 1. Following is his citation:

The Harvey P. Hood Trophy is awarded each year to the class agent of a class eleven to twenty-five years out of Dartmouth. In the spring of 1951 there were several unusually fine performances by agents in this important group of classes but in the judgment of the Alumni Fund Committee the excellent achievement of one man clearly entitles him to this award.

This man has served as both class agent and newsletter editor of his class for two years. In both capacities in both years his sincere devotion to the job won him the respect of his classmates and fellow agents. His work in the 1950 campaign brought his class from fourth to second place in its Green Derby. Last year on the strength of further improvement he moved into first place. He obtained gifts from 434 men in his class. A generous average gift of $36, and a $15,500 total, enabled his class to meet its assigned dollar objective for the 15 th consecutive year. Moreover, his was the only class in the '3os or '4os to exceed its objective, and he did it with 9% to spare. With a clear recognition of the importance of the classes that make their quotas, and with a grateful nod to all classes that reached the magic 100% last spring, the Fund Committee honors the agent of the youngest class to do it.

The Hood Trophy, with this copy of Ernest Martin Hopkins' This Our Purpose as a token of appreciation, is a fitting reward for this man's service to Dartmouth College. The Committee is most happy to present it to RICHARD W. BOWLEN of the Class of 1930.
