FIVE James B. Reynolds Foreign Scholarships have been awarded for the academic year 1952-53 to three Dartmouth seniors and two recent graduates, it was announced by President Dickey. The recipients of the scholarships are: Harold T. Ellis '46, Menlo Park, Calif.; Robert Jordan '50, Upper Montclair, N. J.; David S. Chamberlain '52, Boston, Mass.; Henry P. McKean Jr. '52, Beverly Farms, Mass.; and Alan A. Reich '52, Pearl River, N. Y.
The Reynolds Scholarship program, now in its third year, was made possible through the bequest of the late James B. Reynolds '90, who offered the grants to Dartmouth men who wished and were qualified to undertake graduate study abroad.
Harold T. Ellis '46, a member of Phi Beta Kappa who has been doing graduate work in political science at Stanford University, plans to study modern Irish political history, chiefly at the University College in Dublin, Ireland.
Robert Jordan '50, whose interests are in painting and architecture, will study and travel throughout Europe. Since his graduation from Dartmouth, he has been working for the Master's degree in Fine Arts at Columbia University.
David S. Chamberlain, a senior, who was elected to Phi Beta Kappa last December, will use his scholarship for study at Oxford University, England. He plans to work in the field of English literature, particularly the Romantic Movement.
Henry P. McKean Jr. '52, also a member of Phi Beta Kappa, will go to Cambridge University, England, for study and research in mathematics.
Alan A. Reich '52, varsity football player and president of the senior class, will also go to Oxford University. He plans to continue and expand a program of Slavic studies, a field in which he has majored at Dartmouth.
