These poems, selected from those written by Mr. Perkins over many years, are published in connection with the approaching 50th reunion of the Class of 1902.

TO WILLIAM JEWETT TUCKER To thee whom Dartmouth men do most revere! Broad public-mindedness in word and deed, Faith in thy fellowmen and God, thy creed, The Truth you write and live without a fear. Serving "Our Mother of men" through many a year Made thee a prophet that we lesser heed, And, toiling, seek to follow in thy lead. O, college president without a peer, Honor, gratitude, and love be thine, Whom we of Dartmouth hold our leader still. Love of our college and of thee combine To urge us onward to work out thy will That we like thee should set as our great quest Service to God through man—life at its best.

TO ERNEST MARTIN HOPKINS Because from youth to man's mature estate Within loved walls, as student first, then aid To him we loved, respected, and revered, You answered present tasks with tact and skill; Outside those halls, you demonstrated will To serve your fellows; ever persevered To realize ideals; her accolade Our Dartmouth laid—her best to emu- late- On you whom all alumni hail, as one, Dartmouth personified! Humor and grit, A Yankee heritage, success have won, Along with patience under pain. You fit Our hearts. We pledge—while times remain thus trying— Ourselves that high shall stand Dartmouth undying!
