Normally when the time rolls around to submit an article for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, it is necessary to scurry hither and yon, checking with all of the more active members for material. However, this month we have one major problem; that being to condense all of our news items into a single article!

The big news, of course, was our annual dinner and business meeting, April 21, at the University Club in San Francisco. The cock-tails were stimulating, the fried chicken was delicious, the new roster of officers met with popular acclaim, our special guest speaker from Hanover was terrific, and everyone got home safely to their trundle beds. What more could one ask for in a single evening.

We were again honored by the talented presence of two fathers of Dartmouth undergraduates, Reg Biggs (California), father of Mike '54, and John McCrea (Pomona), father of Tom '53. They were boisterously commanded to repeat their playing and singing performance of the December Tuss-McLaughry banquet, and again did a grand job.

Everyone was very pleased with the outcome of the election for officers. Larry Eager'23 proclaimed that he will swing a mean gavel this coming year. Gus Ayers '06 will ably assist him as vice president. Jim Wilbee'42 was elected to serve a second term as assistant secretary. The only surprise was the election of a dark horse by the name of AbeWinslow '20 to the post of secretary-treasurer.

When the horse-play finally ended and we got down to the serious part of our meeting Art Cohen '37 ably introduced our most welcome guest speaker, Eddie Chamberlain '36. Eddie's 3,500-mile journey from the Plains of Hanover to the Golden Gate was obviously very much appreciated as evidenced by the swell turnout. The subject of his speech proved to be so interesting that it will undoubtedly be the main topic of conversation at our weekly luncheons for many moons. He discussed the purpose of liberal arts colleges, their present-day problems, and the important place that they have in regard to the future of the world. It is gratifying to know that such competent men as Eddie hold down key positions in Hanover.

The Class of '21 had the best attendance at the dinner with five present, but they had to stoop mighty low to do it. They imported a smoglander, Furber Haight! One last word before signing off: that "Dark Horse" Winslow, who was elected secretary, has passed his Silver Jubilee in that capacity and is now anticipating his Golden Anniversary as secretary-treasurer of our renowned group.
