Greetings! Congratulations to Kim Blanchard, a partner with Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York. Kim has been named chair of the New York State Bar Association 2700 member tax section. Kims practice includes corporate acquisitions and mergers, internal restructurings, business formations and joint ventures. She was also named one of the New York area's best lawyers in the August 1,2005, issue of New York magazine.

As we approach our 30 th reunion (June 15- 18,2006) don't hesitate to send along news of classmates to me or newsletter editor Lynne Brooks lblynnebrooks@aol.com to get in gear for June. Use the '76 Web site (available through the College Web site), which has been well put together and maintained by Mark Friedman. Plan on being contacted by head agent Scott McCallister and his substantial crew at some point prior to June. Along those lines, below are some messages from Scott's team.

A message from Martha and Jim Beattie about 30th-reunion participation gifts: "The reunion-giving-participation team, made up of 48 classmates, has taken on the task of calling most of our class, asking for a gift in recognition of our 30th reunion. J.T. Knight, reunion-giving co-chair, is the hero of the day as he volunteered to contact more than 80 classmates himself! This means that each and every one of us will receive a call, letter, e-mail or a thank-you if you have already sent in your gift to the DCF. This is not a contact to dread! Catch up on news of the College and of friends, ask questions and enjoy reconnecting with a classmate.

"This 30th reunion participation effort will be a sign that our class knows that the friendships we all made 30 years ago can again be a focus in our lives, as the busy years of young children and growing careers are now a bit less hectic. Make this a reunion to remember. Join our class in Hanover in June and please participate in the Dartmouth College Fund gift from the Class of 1976!"

Amessage from David Spalding about 30threunion leadership gifts: "J.T. Knight, Tony Magro and I are working with a dedicated team of people to ask for leadership gifts in honor of our class' 30th reunion. The group includes John Bauer, Chris Daniell, Sandy Helve, Nancy Jeton, Peter Jeton, Cliff Krauss, Gary Love, Scott McCallister, Steve Melikian, Dirk Nelson, Cheryl Newman, Bill Saubert, Andy Shaw, David Slade and Stew Watson. As I write this message, 27 '76ers have given $2,500 and above to Dartmouth and we are counting on more than doubling this list before June. Remember all that Dartmouth has done for you, look in your heart and give generously if you can to continue Dartmouth's tradition of excellence for future generations.

"I would also like to remind everyone about the potential tax benefit of giving appredated securities. When you transfer securities as a gift to Dartmouth, your charitable deduction amount will be valued on the day the gift is made (i.e., the current full value). However, neither you nor Dartmouth should pay a capital gains tax if the security was held more than one year. Check with your tax advisor then call the Dartmouth investment office before your broker so they can make it easy for you (1-877- 650-6956)."

Take the initiative to make sure that the people you want to see again will join us in Hanover in June. We look forward to seeing everyone in Hanover June 15-18.
