Orton Hicks Heads The Alumni Council

ORTON H. HICKS 'SI, of New York City, director of research and development for Loew's International Corporation, was elected president of the Dartmouth Alumni Council at the annual June meeting in Hanover on the weekend of June 12-13.

Nichol M. Sandoe '19, of New York City, was chosen vice president and Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, was reelected secretary. Two members-at-large, whose service will terminate in June 1955, were also named: Carl B. Hess '34, of New York City, and William J. Holliday Jr. '43, of Indianapolis. Robert S. Oelman '3l, of Dayton, Ohio, was elected member-at-large for one year to fill the unexpired term of Charles J. Zimmerman '23 of Hartford, who resigned to become a Trustee of the College. Charles L. Hardy '27 of Chicago was chosen to serve as a member of the Athletic Council for a three-year period.

Members of the Alumni Council's executive committee for 1952-53 include: Mr. Hicks, Mr. Sandoe, Mr. Hayward, Prof. Robert A. McKennan '25 of Hanover, and F. William Andres '29 of Boston.

Kenneth M. Henderson '16 of Chicago, president of Ditto, Inc., was elected chairman of the 1953 Dartmouth Alumni Fund Committee. He was director of the recently concluded 1951-52 Fund campaign.

President Dickey spoke at the Council meeting Friday afternoon, following an informal luncheon at the Dartmouth Outing Club. That morning and at its session the night before, the Council heard a discussion of the recent work of the Dartmouth Development Council and reports from college officers and committee chairmen.
