CHARLES J. ZIMMERMAN '23 of Hartford, Conn., was elected to a first term of five years as Alumni Trustee of the College at the June meeting of the Board of Trustees. He succeeds Nelson A. Rockefeller '30 who completed the limit of two full terms on June 30.

Mr. Zimmerman, who is nationally eminent in the insurance field, has served on the Alumni Council and was chairman of the Alumni Fund Committee in 1950 and 1951. He has maintained an active interest in Tuck School ever since he graduated in 1924. A frequent speaker before Tuck classes, he was named to the School's first Board of Overseers.

Various alumni affairs have claimed his time and efforts. In addition to serving on the Alumni Council, he is a past president of the Dartmouth Club of Bridgeport and of the Alumni Association of northern New Jersey, and was also vice president of the Dartmouth Club of New York. Last year he was chairman of the committee setting up the regional organization now functioning under the Dartmouth Development Council.

In his insurance career Mr. Zimmerman has been singled out for outstanding honors. Formerly general agent for Connecticut Mutual in New Jersey and Chicago, he is now Managing Director of the Life Insurance Agency Management Association in Hartford. Last fall he was the recipient of the John Newton Russell award, the highest honor in the insurance field. In ig39 he was elected president of the National Association of Life Underwriters, the youngest man ever to head that group, and in 1942 he was chosen by the publication Insurance Field as the "Insurance Man of the Year." He has lectured at several colleges and published many articles on insurance subjects.

Leaving the Navy in 1946 with the rank of Captain, Mr. Zimmerman received area ribbons and a special commendation from the Secretary of the Navy for his work in the Pacific and South America, with the Navy Personal Finance Program.
