At a dinner to be held on February 4 at the Waldorf in New York City, Peter Kiewit '22 will be presented formally with a Moles Award, given each year to two men outstanding in the field of heavy construction. These awards are generally considered the highest recognition for service in the American construction industry and were initiated by an organization of men in New York who are engaged in underground construction, such as tunnels, subways, foundations and other similar projects. The anouncement of the honor given Mr. Kiewit by his colleagues was made last November. He is the third Dartmouth man to receive the award, the others being John S. Macdonald '13 and Luther S. Oakes '99.
Mr. Kiewit, who lives in Omaha, began his construction business there on a modest scale. Last August he was awarded the second biggest construction contract ever offered, the $1.2 billion uranium plant for the Atomic Energy Commission, in southern Ohio.
He has kept in touch with his Dartmouth classmates. Last month he was present at a small '22 dinner get-to-gether in New York, with Stanley Miner, Sumner Kilmarx, Norman Crane, Frank Horan, John Johnson and Herluf Olsen.
