On January 10 the campaign to raise $110,000 to install artificial ice equipment in the Davis Hockey Rink had progressed approximately halfway toward its goal. By that date $53,000 had been received from 55 donors, it was announced by George H. Colton '35, executive secretary of the Dartmouth Development Council.
Committees are working actively in Boston, New York, Buffalo, Cleveland, Chicago, Denver and the Twin Cities. In general, requests for gifts are being directed only to those known to have a strong interest in hockey, and no general appeal is being conducted. A number of gifts have been volunteered, however, by alumni who have learned about the campaign.
Every effort is being made to raise the $57,000 still needed before March 31, so that construction may start as soon as the ice is out of the rink and the ground has dried out.
