AMONG fatuity research projects at Dartmouth none has greater magnitude or visibility than Prof. Milieu G. Morgan's Thayer School study of radio waves in the ionosphere, what with shooting pulse signals hundreds of miles into the atmosphere from a field station boasting a 100-foot steel tower. Important findings that may at last eliminate the nuisance of echoes in long-distance radio communication have recently been reported by Dr. Morgan and his research associates. The story of their work is told in text and pictures in the feature Pulling Answers Out ofthe Air, beginning on Page 14.
The ALUMNI MAGAZINE'S Undergraduate Editor, Richard C. Cahn '53, summarizes the year from the student point of view, in TheYear in Review (Page 18). The approach of another Commencement has stimulated Alice Pollard, of our editorial staff, to look into the story of Dartmouth diplomas and to write Sheepskin Season Recalls a Mystery (Page 21). Another feature is the story of How OccomPond Came Into Being (Page 25), an authoritative account found among the papers of the late Prof. "Tute" Worthen.
