COL. JAMES T. SEAVER JR. '38, Deputy Commander of the 2d Weather Wing since September 1953, this summer assumed command of this intercontinental organization, at Furstenfeldbruck, Germany. In this post he heads one of the two weather wings in the U.S. Air Force. The 2d Wing provides climatological and meteorological support to all U.S. military air and ground forces in Europe, the United Kingdom, Africa and the Near East, and has under it four weather squadrons and the 53d Weather Reconnaissance Squadron.
In addition to commanding the 2d Weather Wing, Colonel Seaver will serve as Staff Weather Officer to the Commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, and as U.S. spokesman on the Meteorological Committee of the Supreme Headquarters, Allied Powers Europe.
Colonel Seaver entered the Army Air Corps in 1940 and served in both the European and Pacific battle areas. From November 1948 to August 1951 he served as the Strategic Air Command Staff Weather Officer. In August 1951 he continued in that post and assumed command of the 1st Weather Group. His wife, the former June Fuller, and three sons are with him in Germany.
