The Dartmouth Club of South Florida began its summer season with a meeting in Fort Lauderdale on May 21. The cool and pleasant Lauderdale Yacht Club was made available to us through the efforts of George Loehr '20, former Commodore of the Club. The program consisted of a broiled chicken dinner and afterward the election of new officers: President Edward R. Hodgson '42; Vice Presidents Franklin T. Nichols '31 and W. David Dance '40; and Secretary-Treasurer Richard H. Williams Maloy '49. There was also the showing of two films: "Eisenhower at Dartmouth" and "My First Week at Dartmouth." Alex Youngerman '21, retiring president, became chairman of the executive committee, whose members are Allan Gottschaldt '18 and Charles T. Garnsey '20. Present at this meeting, besides wives, families and guests, were Frank K. Nelson '26, Harold Low '27 and Alan Loehr '51, all of Fort Lauderdale; George B. Davidson '13 of West Palm Beach; and the Miamians included Bennet K. Watts '26, Whitney Cushing '39, Norman K. Askey '43 and Warren Stearns '51, as well as the officers mentioned above.

On August 7, we held a Saturday afternoon picnic at Crandon Park, down on Key Biscayne, a beautiful islet which juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. A regular old-fashioned picnic we had, too, with beer, hot-dogs, fried chicken, potato salad, soda-pop and homemade cake. Between plunges into the rolling surf we had a picture taken of part of the gang.

On September 1 we held our first monthly luncheon meeting at the Seven Seas. We will hold these luncheons on the second Tuesday of each month at the Seven Seas Restaurant (free parking) at 12:15. As guests of our Club the four entering freshmen from this area and their fathers attended. These boys are Stanley A. Beiley, Ernest R. Drosdik, Warren J. OroVitz, and Charles V. Panettiere. They were introduced to Miamians Bill Kofoed '55, Dick Gordon '56 and Dave Hillman '57, who are presently attending the College. Allan Gottschaldt '18 delivered an address to the entering freshmen in which he stressed the Dartmouth tradition and prepared them for four years of hard work, but also a lot of enjoyment while attending "the College on the hill."

Among those who regularly attend our luncheons we were glad to note some members who have been unable to make our meetings regularly in the past. They are Malcolm K. Beal '28, Alfred M. Seaber '29, Daniel C. Quilty '38, Murray Sams '45, and George Singer '50. We hope to see them more often and expect to have some excellent turnouts for these luncheons this coming season. Any of you out-of-towners who would like to Wah Hoo Wah, come in to see us - second Tuesday of each month - 12:15 - Seven Seas Restaurant.
