The bumper first-year class of no includes 23 graduates of other colleges and universities. Dartmouth seniors are rubbing shoulders with men from: Cambridge University (England), Brown University, Stanford University, University of Minnesota, Bowdoin College, University of Georgia, Colby College, St. Francis College, Wesleyan University, Virginia Military Institute, Georgetown University, Colgate University, Rollins College, Harvard College, University of Virginia, University of Pennsylvania, Boston College, and United States Military Academy.
Sixty students have returned for the second year, making total enrollment 170 (including students in the Tuck-Thayer program).
The first Vermont-New Hampshire School of Banking was held at Tuck September 7-10. About 175 bankers attended. Among them was Russ Putney, T'23 of the Keene National Bank in Keene, N. H. Speakers included Howard D.Crosse '31, who is now with the New York Federal Reserve Bank; Dean Upgren and Mr. Robinson. Mr. Morton helped with arrangements and publicity.
Mr. Olsen was director of the study staff which produced a report on University Education for Administration in Hospitals, published by the American Council on Education. The staff worked with an independent commission of top administrators and medical men headed by Jim Hamilton T'23.
On September 30 Dean Upgren attended a meeting of the Council On Foreign Relations in New York to take part in a discussion on tariffs.
Dick Greene T'54 has joined Eaton & Howard, Inc., Boston; Frank Hutchins T'48 keeps up his undergraduate and Tuck pace as president of Hutchins Advertising Company in Rochester; Andy McDowell T'48 has been covering most of the nation building sales of Kodak audio-visual equipment; LaneDwinell T'29 won the Republican nomination for New Hampshire governor and is assured of taking over that office in November, although he would be the last to admit it at this writing; Dick Mayberry T'47 is now assistant to the president of Haloid Company in Rochester; Ernie la Guardia T'25 reports in after many years from Panama where he is connected with Cerveceria Nacional (National Brewery): Perley Merry T'27 has been with the Cranberry Co-op on the Cape, selling its fall crop; Kent Robinson T'54, while waiting for induction, is happily situated with Gardner Board and Carton Company, Middletown, Ohio; Carl Noyes T'38 can now be reached at the Garfield Branch of the Chase National Bank; Dick Hulbert T'54 reports everything perfect with his job in The Methods and Planning Department of Travelers Insurance in Hartford; Killie Kilmarx T'23 is heading the Dartmouth Athletic Council again this year; Hike Newell T'2l is playing the lead on the Tuck Board of Overseers; E.Andrew Wilde T'51 has accepted a position with Lybrand, Ross Bros. & Montgomery in New York,
