ALUMNI who return to Hanover after an absence of some years are likely to comment on the way Hanover is spreading out with new homes. Residences for faculty and town are not only increasing in number, but a good many of them exemplify varying degrees of contemporary design. The architect responsible for at least a dozen of Hanover's more modern homes is Ted Hunter '38, once one of Dartmouth's brightest skiing stars (U.S. Olympic team 1936) and now practicing architecture in partnership with his wife in Hanover. In this month's lead article, Nature Conditions Architecture (Page 16), he writes about some of the motivations behind contemporary domestic design.
The Experimental Theatre (Page 23) is the subject of another of this month's feature articles. Prof. Henry B. Williams, who is director of the Theatre, fills in the historical background of this highly successful dramatic organization, which has recently delighted Hanover with eight performances of Shakespere's King Henry the Fourth, Parts I and II.
