"C1 ROM the estate of the late George M. Morris '11 of Washington, D. C., Dartmouth College has received a bequest of $10,000. Mr. Morris specified that the income from the fund should be devoted annually to the Dartmouth Alumni Fund so long as any member of the Class of 1911 is living. After that, his will directed, the entire amount is to go to Dartmouth, "with its seat in the village of Hanover in that state (New Hampshire) but located in the hearts of Dartmouth men everywhere."
Mr. Morris was past president of the American Bar Association, which on August 19, 1954, the day before his death, had honored him with the American Bar Association Medal "for conspicuous and unselfish service to the cause of jurisprudence in America and throughout the world." He was one of the founders of the International Bar Association and served as chairman of its executive committee and Speaker of its House of Deputies. He also served as chairman of the United Nations Committee on International Jurisdiction.
Mr. Morris had an unflagging interest in Dartmouth. He was a member of the Alumni Council from 1922 to 1928 and served as president of the General Alumni Association in 1940-41.
