VINCENT W. JONES '52, the author of this article, is at Brasenose College, Oxford University, as a Rhodes Scholar studying law. In the photograph above he is shown with Edmund King, Brasenose head groundskeeper for sixty years. Jones is dressed for rugby, a sport in which he attained prominence this past year when he became the first American player since 1931 to win a Rugby Blue — the distinction of playing for Oxford in the big match with Cambridge. In his article he makes an interesting comparison between rugby and American football, which he played as a Dartmouth tackle.
At Dartmouth he was president of both Palaeopitus and the Interfraternity Council and was a Phi Beta Kappa student as well as a football letterman. At Oxford he is continuing the study of law begun at Stanford University.
With Jones at Oxford are four other recent Dartmouth graduates: George F. Sherman Jr. '52, St. Anthony's College; Brock H. Brower '53, Merton College; John L. Buchanan '53, Exeter College; and Robert O. Collins '54, Balliol College. Their photographs, taken by Jones, appear with the article.
