The Boston Club for the second year in a row held a "Successful Candidates Meeting at the University Club on May 8.
The purpose of the meeting was to give boys who had been accepted for the incoming freshman class an opportunity to learn more about the College and to ask questions which would help them in reaching their final decision as to their choice of a college.
Mothers and fathers were invited, as well as alumni, and the meeting was a great success. Dean MacDonald was there from Hanover together with Monte Pascoe, an outstanding student, and there was a showing of the film "First Week at Dartmouth." President GeorgeRedding '29 presided, and refreshments were served after the meeting.
Wes Beattie '33, of the Boston executive committee was in charge, assisted by JohnHandrahan '37, John Clayton '51, Bibs Bankhart '37, Dick Leggat '48, Al Priddy '42, BillKing '53 and the rest of the officers and executive committee in general.
Dartmouth Night at the Pops was held on May 18 before a good turnout of alumni and their guests. The Boston Club had reserved half of the main floor plus some space in the balcony. This annual occasion is held to benefit the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston's Scholarship Fund.
John Williamson '42, was chairman, with Dan Ruggles '21 in charge of publicity, EdLamer '41, tickets, Gordon Wentworth 40, flower sales and Bibs Bankhart '37 and RogSallinger '27 to stimulate ticket sales among the classes.
Fred Stockwell '43 was in Hanover over the May 7-8 weekend, representing the Boston Club at the annual class and club officers meeting, and attended all the meetings of the Club Secretaries Association.
