ROGER C. WILDE '21 of Chicago was - elected president of the Dartmouth Alumni Council for 1955-56 at its annual June meeting, held in Hanover from the 15th to the 17th, during reunion week. Mr. Wilde, who succeeds Robert S. Oelman '31 of Dayton, has been a member of the Council since 1952 and has served as Alumni Fund chairman for 1954 and 1955.
Twenty-seven Council members, from New Hampshire to California, were present at the meeting, which was also attended by six newly chosen members, whose terms began July 1, and 22 past members, A chief topic for consideration was the work of the Trustees Planning Committee, discussed by President Dickey, Trustee Harvey P. Hood '18, committee chairman, and Trustee Charles J. Zimmerman '23, who heads the sub-committee on fund raising. The Council-sponsored plan for improved class organization, calling for an executive committee and a class chairman as well as a secretary, was also an important item of business.
At the Council's final session, officers elected for the coming year included, besides President Wilde, Donald C. McKinlay '37 of Denver, vice president; Sidney C. Hay-ward '26 of Hanover, secretary; and Julius A. Rippel '23 of Newark, N. J., and F. Jordan McCarthy '26 of Baltimore, executive committee members with the above three officers.
Two new members-at-large, elected for three-year terms, were James K. Tindle '36 of Philadelphia and Charles G. Bolté '41 of New York City. To fill the five new places created by a constitutional change, enlarging the Council's membership from 35 to 40, the following were elected members-at-large for various terms: Louis V. Wilcox '23 of Westfield, N. J., for one year; William G. Morton '28 of Syracuse, N. Y., for two years; Orvil E. Dryfoos '34 of New York City for two years; Creighton C. Hart '28 of Kansas City, Mo., for three years; and Charles M. French '24 of Cleve-land, for three years.
Charles L. Hardy '27 of Chicago was elected a member of the Dartmouth Athletic Council for a second term of three years; E. Spencer Miller '31 of Portland, Me., was reelected representative on the Board of Overseers of the Hanover Inn for the coming year; and Michael J. deSherbinin '42 of Hanover was named alumni representative on the Board of Proprietors of The Dartmouth to complete the unexpired term of one year of Melvin S. Wax '40.
Among the Council's committee chairmen for 1955-56, William G. Morton '28 of Syracuse was chosen to head the Alumni Fund. Other chairmen are: Alumni Club Activities, Howard J. Mullin '27, of St. Louis; Bequest and Estate Planning, Ells-worth B. Buck '14 of New York City; Class Gifts to the College, John H. Davis Jr. '25 of New York City; Class Organization, Carleton G. Broer '27 of Toledo; Nominating Committee, Sumner D. Kilmarx '22 of New York City; Vocational, Edwin C. Chinlund '29 of Pittsburgh; Public Relations, Richard M. Pearson '20 of Rye, N. Y.; and Enrollment and Admissions, Donald C. McKinlay '37 of Denver.

PLANNING FOR OCTOBER CONFERENCE IN SAN FRANCISCO: Alumni Council members from the Far West had a chance during the June meetings to do some preliminary work oil the Council-sponsored conference on alumni organization and enrollment, October 6-9, when President Dickey will head the Hanover delegation and be the main speaker. In the Inn garden, above, are Leon I. Rothschild '24, Los Angeles; Guy P. Wallick '21, San Francisco, general chairman; Everett H. Parker '16, Denver; and George C. Nickum '31, Seattle. Norris E. Williamson '26 and Donald C. McKinlay '37, both of Denver, also took part in the Hanover discussions.
