Raymond A. "Welbourn '41, in only a few alumni centers does one man ever become known as "Mr. Dartmouth"; but, from the shadow of New Hampshire's Ragged Mountain to the Maine border, from the summit of Mt. Osceola to Lucas Pond, you are it. You have earned this title through your untiring work in behalf of the Dartmouth Club of the Lakes Region which you have served for the last nine years. You are also
"Mr. Dartmouth" for hundreds of secondary school boys in your area, the best of whom find their way to Hanover.
We are not here this evening to settle which came first, the Welbourn or the apple; and we have not called you forward to reiterate that the Welbourn apple is the best in the North Country nor because you are generous with the fruit of your orchards - though seldom can the products of a man's labor be so satisfactorily tasted.
You have been singled out this evening, Ray, in recognition of the splendid job you are doing for the College, and it is our pleasure to speak for the Dartmouth fellowship in naming you Dartmouth Club Secretary of the Year.
Recognition as the Dartmouth Club Secretary of the Year was given to Raymond A. Welbourn '41 (right) of the Dartmouth Club of Nashua, N. H., at the dinner for club officers at the Lake Morey Inn, September 28. He is shown receiving the award from Michael McGean '49, executive head of alumni club affairs, who read the following citation:
