Ziskind Lecture Fund
April 1956

THE College has received a gift of $10,000 from the Jacob Ziskind Trust for Charitable Purposes for the establishment of the Jacob Ziskind Memorial Lecture Fund on the William Jewett Tucker Foundation. The fund will be used to bring to Hanover each year an outstanding lecturer to further the purposes of the Tucker Foundation in strengthening the moral and spiritual aspects of education at Dartmouth.

The gift was made to the College by the two trustees of the fund, Mrs. Sol Weltman of Longmeadow, Mass., sister of the late Jacob Ziskind, and Abraham Berkowitz, of the Boston law firm of Ropes, Gray, Best, Coolidge and Rugg.

Mr. Ziskind, a native of Lowell, Mass., died in 1950 at the age of 51. He had extensive interests in textiles and textile machinery, and was one of the country's foremost rebuilders of mill properties, with plants in Massachusetts, Connecticut, South Carolina and Canada.
