Following is the substance of a letter dated March 19 from our distinguished classmate, Herbert A. Warden:

"Don't have a heart attack, just be surprised to see a letter from me. Have missed your articles in some of the ALUMNI MAGAZINES, which is certainly not like you. (If '96 men would write oftener there would be more articles.)

"I suppose it will be news to you that while painting on the roof of our summer home in Harvey Cedars, N.J., last October a rope broke and I fell about thirty feet. I sustained a very bad fracture of my left hip. I was in a hospital at Lakewood, N.J., with a pin in the hip and a weight attached for eight weeks.

"Guess I surprised everybody, even the doctor who operated on me, by the way I got around when the tension was removed. I was on my way home in less than a week but am still somewhat 'limpy.'

"Naturally I wound up my Mayor career. I can assure you it is a tremendous relief to be out of it after sixteen years as Mayor of Newburgh, N.Y.

"The worry, work, care for me and a drive alone from New Jersey to Newburgh gave my wife Minnie a heart attack, confining her to bed for seven weeks. Now we are both on the up grade."

Speaking for all of '96 we hope you and Minnie will be able to be at our 30th in May.

Your secretary has word that Byron Eldred is in a nursing home. His wife, Gurli, has been in the hospital - now confined to her bed. She has disposed of her shop in Lime Rock, Conn.
