There will be an Alumni Chapel Service in memory of Craven Laycock on Sunday, June 16, at 9:45 A.M. in Rollins Chapel.

The Chapel bell will ring as of old, closing with fifteen strokes. At the expiration of these strokes the doors will be closed. Every member of 1896 living within a day's journey of Hanover should be present at the memorial to our classmate.

When Craven entered Dartmouth he was considerably older than other members of '96 and had acquired a much better mental and moral balance. He entered heartily into the class activities and gradually became' its natural leader. The class had a peculiar faculty of getting into trouble in consequence of which there were many infractions of the College discipline by certain groups or by individuals. Craven was often called upon to assist in adjusting these difficulties and in him '96 had an able advocate at the court of the College authorities.

In after years his home became the Mecca of all his classmates at reunion time. Only last year, which was not our reunion year, a group of sixteen men and women of '96 spent a delightful Sunday morning with the Laycocks. Craven gave us a lot of intimate details concerning his many gifts and souvenirs of which he has a magnificent collection. All those who were fortunate enough to be present on this occasion will carry all their lives the memory of that wonderful Sunday morning.

All members of '96 living in New England will receive individual notices of the Memorial Service during the first week in June.
