After weeks of planning and preparation to stage a "Hanover Holiday" program for Dartmouth alumni and wives in this area, Mother Nature dealt the club a cruel blow. A blizzard, described by the local weather bureau as the worst in a generation, cut our attendance by 50 per cent. 'The meeting scheduled for Friday evening March 16 was held at the Wellesley Country Club with some 47 brave souls in attendance.
The secretary, not having missed a meeting in many years, saw his record broken when he was hopelessly caught in a snarl of bumper-to-bumper Boston traffic some five miles long, along with many others of our loyal regular attendants. Credit should go to our President, John M. Boermeester '31, who did manage to get the Hanover speakers to the club in spite of road difficulties. The meeting got under way with the customary Wheelock Tavern followed by the usual fine Country Club dinner.
Our guests for the evening were Prof. Chauncey N. Allen '24, of the Psychology Department who addressed the group on "Problems of Adolescence" and Prof. James A. Sykes of the Music Department whose topic was "Trends in American Music." Professor Sykes entertained the gathering with many fine musical selections to illustrate his topic. Much credit should go to both Hanover speakers for the excellent job of carrying on under such trying weather conditions. The secretary wishes to express his personal appreciation of all those who worked on the telephone committee and hopes their efforts to bolster club attendance will be rewarded in future meetings when we will not have to contend with such stormy weather conditions.
A dinner-dance given by the Dayton Club at the Officers' Club, Wright-Patterson Air ForceBase, was headed by Rear Admiral T. C. Lonnauest '17 and hosted by vounger officers.
