Dean Upgren spoke at the winter meeting of the New Hampshire Bankers Association at Manchester and at the two winter sessions of the Northeastern Vermont Development Association. He and Tuck Overseer (Senator) Flanders spoke at panel sessions in St. Johnsbury and Newport, the dean discussing problems of taxation in Vermont.

The latest Tuck bulletin is "Are Your Salesmen Overpaid?" by Mr. Davis.

Messrs. Anderson, Logan and Olsen, CharlieMcGoughran 'so, Bob Field T'47 and DickAllen T'50 attended an Eastern Regional Meeting of the Committee for Economic Development in New York City. Mr. Logan presented a paper on "The Use of Time of Businessmen Participants in Research Projects."

Mr. Foster participated in the Executive Development Program at Earlham College, his topic being "Interpretation of Financial Statements."

Mr. Griswold was leader of a three-day American Management Association Orientation Seminar in New York City on the subject of "Establishing a Capital Controls System." Mr. Frey is the leader of a four-day Orientation Seminar on "More Accurate Determination of Proper Expenditures for Advertising."

As this is written, plans are in full swing for mid-April Clearing House meetings in Boston and New York. The Boston guest list includes Hanoverians Upgren, Hill, Burleigh and Foster. An Arthur D. Little executive is scheduled to reveal the whys and wherefores of Operation Research. Messrs. Upgren, Hill and Foster also appear on the New York guest list along with colleague Anderson. Secondyear men Aberle, Sigler, Wakelee and Wathen are billed to disclose what they have learned in Anderson's and Upgren's course in General Business Conditions.

About 25 representatives of leading economic research agencies and publications met at Tuck, under the chairmanship of Mr. Morton, to discuss the problems of communicating economic research. Speakers included Robert Heilbroner, free-lance writer and author of "The Worldly Philosophers," Gerard Piel, publisher of Scientific American, Harry Schwartz of The New York Times, and Dean Upgren. The conference was financed by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

William Clay '47, account executive with N.W. Ayer, spoke to the Marketing Management class on "Building an Advertising Campaign."

Albert Bradley '15, Tuck Overseer, has been elected chairman of the board of General Motors. Charlie Zimmerman T'24., also an Overseer, is now president of Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Jim Field '48 has joined J.B. Williams Company as Product Manager.

Phil Penberthy T'47 has been appointed, vice president at Lennen and Newell.

Cliff Falkenau T'41 is with General tlectrie's Aircraft Accessory Turbine Department in West Lynn.

Pete Bogardus T'52 is an account executive with KOVR-TV, San Francisco.

As this is being written in dull, gray Hanover, Mr. Morton is lolling on a sunny Bermuda beach. He'll be back next month.
