1922 Returns for 35th
July 1956 WILBUR W. BULLEN '22,

ANOTHER reunion has come and gone but A it is not likely that it will be forgotten by those of us who were fortunate enough to be a part of it. Len Morrissey served us well as reunion chairman. The organization of it was letter perfect and there was not a hitch throughout. Everything went so smoothly it would be easy to conclude that there is nothing to running a reunion but that just isn't so. Len spent a great deal of time at the assignment and the smoothness with which it ran speaks volumes for his ability to organize. Choosing wisely, he received able assistance from the members of his committee - notably Carroll Dwight who served as treasurer, OlieOlsen who represented the class in the arrangement for the memorial service, Walt Sands who negotiated the Lake Morey outing, and Tony Hanlon who was head receptionist.

A few of us arrived in Hanover on Sunday but the majority checked in throughout the day on Monday. We were lodged in Gile, Streeter and Lord dormitories with a tent pitched on the strip of lawn between Tuck Drive and Gile. The reunion was touched off at five o'clock Monday evening by a cocktail party in the tent followed by a buffet supper.

After supper, nearly everyone walked the short distance to the President's house to pay his respects to Mr. and Mrs. Dickey at a reception which was a delightful affair held in the garden. Many then attended the lecture by Al Foley '20 which was a part of Hanover Holiday. Following that, there was a joint gathering of 1920, 1921 and 1922 in the '21 tent that went on and on to a late hour.

Tuesday morning we had breakfast served at the tent in a leisurely fashion and then wandered to mid-campus for the class picture. Following that, we journeyed to the gymnasium for the Alumni Luncheon, after which we attended the meeting of alumni which was conducted by John Sullivan '21 and at which we were privileged to pay our respects to our beloved Prexy Hopkins and to hear a splendid talk by President Dickey.

By the middle of Tuesday afternoon we were gathered at Lake Morey Inn. Most of us were content to sit and rock on the lakeside porch until meal time but there were some who chose to swim or go boating. Then we were served a sumptuous buffet dinner that was as bountiful as it was delicious.

After the business meeting which was held in the lounge of the Inn and about which more will be said below, we returned to Hanover in time to attend the performance of "The Rainmaker" by the Dartmouth Players. Following that we sat in the tent until the wee hours enjoying Andy Marshall's movies of prior reunions.

Again on Wednesday morning we enjoyed our breakfast served at the tent. President Dickey gave his Hanover Holiday lecture at 10 o'clock in front of Baker Library. At 11 o'clock we moved to Rollins Chapel for the joint service in memory of departed members of the three classes. It was a dignified and impressive service conducted by Rev. Charles P. Gilson '21, Archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island.

The final event was luncheon Wednesday noon on the Hanover Inn terrace after which many good-byes were said as departures took place. Some of us stayed on to spend one more evening and night in Hanover.

As is the way with most good things, our reunion came to an end but it remains a happy memory of renewed friendships and associations.

Weatherwise, we had three absolutely perfect days - further proof of Len's efficiency.

At the business meeting, your secretarychairman, with the approval of the executive committee, submitted a set of new By-laws patterned after the model constitution for classes developed by a committee appointed for that purpose by the Alumni Council of the College. These new By-laws were adopted by a unanimous vote. Copies are available and will be sent to any members of the class who request them.

After reports by the various officers, the following slate was presented by the nominating committee and voted into office:

Chairman, Wilbur W. Bullen; Secretary, Leonard E. Morrissey; Treasurer, CarrollDwight; Class Agent, John D. Dodd; Bequest Chairman, Eugene Hotchkiss; News Letter Editor, Stephen M. Kenyan.

Executive Committee Members in Addition to Above Officers: Robert A. Baldwin, Francis H. Horan, John S. Johnson, Modie J. Spiegel, Stewart P. Stearns, Richard P. Stetson, Richard T. Willis, John C. Wood.

Beginning with the next issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, this column will be written by Len Morrissey. It will be well done. Please do your part by sending him the news items he will need.
