GEORGE O'CONNELL Of Louisville, Ky., assumed the duties of director of the Dartmouth College News Service on April 1. He succeeds Donald D. McCuaig '54, who has been acting director since January 14, 1957. Mr. McCuaig will continue as assistant director.

Mr. O'Connell comes to Dartmouth from The Courier-Journal of Louisville where he was a copy editor. Previously he had been assistant city editor of TheLewiston (Ida.) Morning Tribune, and a general-assignment reporter and sports writer for The Spokesman-Review of Spokane, Wash. During World War II and the Korean War he served with the U. S. Navy Amphibious Forces in the Pacific.

Mr. O'Connell was born in Havre, Mont., February 27, 1923, and was granted a bachelor of arts degree in journalism by Montana State University in 1947.

He married the former Shirley Jeanne Olson in Spokane in 1949. They have three children.
