THE DARTMOUTH HISTORY department was host November 1 and 2 at the second annual meeting of the college history teachers of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Colleges represented by the 36 professors attending were the University of Vermont, Middlebury, Norwich, St. Michael's, St. Anselm's, Colby Junior, the University of New Hampshire, Bowdoin, Colby and Dartmouth.

The banquet speaker was Prof. Edward C. Kirkland '16 of Bowdoin, president of the American Association of University Professors. His topic was "Adventures on Behalf of Academic Freedom."

Plans were made to put the association on a permanent basis. Prof. John G. Gazley of the Dartmouth history department was in charge of the meetings.
