The Big 50th began Thursday afternoon, June 5, when Mike Stearns arrived in Hanover. During the evening others arrived and by Friday morning there was a big group on hand. Before registration at the Ski Hut was completed, we had 86 names on the roster - enough to win the "Largest Attendance Cup" and also the "Highest Percentage of Living Members." Sid Hayward presented these cups to Mike Stearns at the Alumni Luncheon on Saturday, and we were allowed to retain them through the Class Banquet Saturday night.

The first get-together was Friday afternoon at 5:00 at the Ski Hut. That was followed by a dinner for men and their wives at Thayer Hall. There were 58 ladies present and we want to say right here that we appreciated having them come along too.

At 8:00 o'clock Friday we attended the President's Reception at his home, and after that went to the Glee Club Concert in Webster Hall. By the way, that was one of the finest concerts we have ever heard.

Saturday morning the class photograph was made on the steps of Webster Hall and the steps were crowded! From there we moved to Rollins Chapel for the Memorial Service conducted by the Reverend Joe Hammond.

We then moved to the Gymnasium for the Alumni Luncheon where we had special places reserved for us in the East Wing with Other reunion classes. Larry Treadway for the Class made a most moving speech. It is printed elsewhere in this issue of the MAGAZINE.

At the conclusion, Dick Stoddart, chairman of the Class of 1958, presented Larry Treadway with a cup as a gift from the graduating class to the Class of 1908 which graduated 50 years before. This cup Larry can keep for the Class, and for those of you who were not present, I dare say he will tell you where you may see it. This might be another reason for going to Vero Beach next spring!

At 3:00 o'clock Saturday a business meeting of the Class was held in McNutt Hall. The present officers were re-elected: Stearns, President; Barnes, Treasurer; Symmes, Secretary; Squier, News Editor; Art Lewis, Alumni Fund Agent. By resolution the class officers were authorized and instructed to appoint an assistant for each position, the appointee's name to be given to the Secretary at the earliest possible time.

After another roundup at the Ski Hut, the men adjourned to Thayer Hall for the Class Banquet and the ladies had dinner together at the Hanover Inn. After a brief visit and talk from President Dickey, who came to the Dinner in between his engagements with President Heuss of Germany, Park Stickney presented mementos to class officers: a gavel to Mike Stearns, a "bank" to Arthur Barnes, and a fountain pen to Larry Symmes. George Squier presented a handsome certificate, duly inscribed, to Sid Ruggles for his splendid job as Biographer of the Class and for creating the Fifty Year Class Book. After dinner, most of the men and their wives went to see "The Matchmaker" in Webster Hall.

On Sunday morning most of the men marched in the Alumni Procession and attended the Commencement exercises. The weather was perfect throughout. It was a grand Reunion.
