Tom Laris and Dan Tompkins, both sophomores, are the Dartmouth entries in the IC4A meet being run in New York as this is written.

In the most recent Heptagonal meet the Dartmouth runners finished sixth, with Army winning and Yale second. The Indians edged out Harvard, Princeton, Penn and Columbia. The meet featured a stirring duel between Dartmouth's Tom Laris and Army's Dick Greene, which is described by Coach Ellie Noyes in this month's "Coaches' Corner." Laris was followed by Nick Jennison (18th place), Dud Hallagan (40th), Bob Becker (41st), Roger Coates (45th), Dan Tompkins (49th) and Bill Obenshain (50th).

In dual meet action the Indians edged Harvard, 27-30, in Hanover and had an easy time against Boston University, 18-41, at Franklin Field in Boston. Against B.U. Laris turned in a record-breaking clocking of 19:15.4 over the four-mile course. Dan Tompkins finished fourth, Dud Hallagan fifth, Roger Coates sixth, Bill Obenshain seventh, and Bob Becker eighth.

These two victories gave Ellie Noyes' squad an overall 2-2 mark in dual competition, with a second place in triangular competition and sixth in the Heptagonals - a creditable performance for the fall season.
