THE mid-March snowstorm which swept over much of the nation served to punctuate the end of Dartmouth's winter sports season and set the stage for the spring teams to take over. In retrospect, it was certainly one of Dartmouth's finest seasons for some years, with the basketball team winning the Ivy League championship for the second straight year and the hockey team sweeping to a perfect 10-0 Ivy League record to win that league championship. Both had disappointments, however, as the basketball team lost the opening game of the N.C.A.A. tournament to West Virginia, 82-68, while the hockey team had their hopes of an N.C.A.A. berth dashed because of a late-season loss to Boston University, 5-1.
In this report we will sketch quickly the results achieved by the Big Green winter teams during the final month of play and then take a look at how the Dartmouth spring teams shape up as they get ready for the usual spring vacation trips to the southland.
