DARTMOUTH'S 46th annual Alumni Fund campaign, which ended June 30, produced $627,890 in gifts from 10,072 alumni, parents and friends, according to a final report sent to some 2300 Class Agents in early August. This was the sixth largest dollar total in Fund history.

The total contributor count in the 1960 campaign amounted to 20,819 donors, of whom 10,072 made direct gifts and 10,747 received contributor credit because of participation in the Capital Gifts Campaign. Alumni participation, based on this, was 67.5% - only slightly lower than the record 71.3% established in 1957.

Twenty-nine classes, almost half, recorded participation percentages of 100% or better, while 24 classes exceeded their dollar quotas. Included in the dollar total was $26,399 contributed by 865 non-alumni parents in a special parents campaign under the chairmanship of Guilford Hartley of Minneapolis.

Two classes reached the $20,000 figure. The Class of 1925, under Head Agent Laurence G. Leavitt, contributed $22,125, while 1927, led by Lawrence W. Scammon, recorded exactly $20,000. Four other classes - 1918, 1924, 1926 and 1929 - went over $15,000.

The younger classes dominated the contributor columns, with 1953, led by Edward J. Spiegel, achieving 581 donors. The Classes of 1946, 1950 and 1952 all had over 550 givers.

Green Derby honors went to Winthrop J. Snow and 1914, in Group I (1910-1916); William M. Alley, 1921, in Group II (1917-1923); Laurence G. Leavitt, 1925, in Group III (1924-1930); C. Kirk Liggett, 1936, in Group IV (1931-1938); Warren C. Kreter, 1942, in Group V (1939-1945); Russell C. Carlson, 1948, in Group VI (1946-1952); and Edward J. Spiegel, 1953, in Group VII (1953-1959).

In a special message sent to all 1960 Fund workers, President Dickey wrote in part: "You chose to set goals for the Fund, for yourselves, and for each of us that were realistic in terms of what Dartmouth men at their best expect Dartmouth to be. Your hard work has made those goals attainable and on that basis Dartmouth will go forward without breaking stride."
