AN endowed annual art prize of $100 has been established at the College by Mr. and Mrs. William B. Jaffe of New York City. The William B. Jaffe Award will be given for "exceptional achievement in the major program of the Art Department." The Department will select the first recipient of the award this spring.
Mr. and Mrs. Jaffe have been patrons of the Carpenter Art Galleries and their support has been especially significant in gifts of Chinese porcelain and modern art. They are the donors also of the Jaffe-Friede Gallery in the Hopkins Center.
Their sons are Robert M. Jaffe '58, who majored in art, and John A. Friede '60 and Robert L. B. Friede '63, both undergraduates.
