All roads now lead to our Big 25th. Hope your plans are completed to take your entire family with you to Hanover for the fun on June 15, 16, 17 and 18 as about 200 men have already registered. This reunion is a "Once-in-a-lifetime affair" for you, and all indications are that '36 will break Dartmouth's usual high attendance records as well as a few other milestones of gaiety and entertainment. Bob Prentice's reunion publicity team has been mailing a series of notices and plans to you. Each separate mailing has been prepared by a different committee member so, if you care to analyze such things, you may be able to detect the creative talents of Boyce Price or Al Butler or Ralph Butler or Norb Hofman. If you need any help or information regarding this reunion, please write or telephone your class secretary as the big event is fast approaching.
A '36 table at the Alumni Fund banquet in the Hotel Astor in New York, on March 23, held the following jovial group: Dick Morton, Red Adams, Kirk Liggett, Larry Marks, Pete Fitzherbert, John Sawyer, Milt Johnston, Fred Kneip, Bob Dixson, Gil Balkam and Bill Sicker.
A note from Dr. Bill McLaughlin, who is on the staff of the Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco, says he has attended a couple of gatherings of the Northern California and Nevada alumni group but hasn't run into many '36ers. He says Ed Drechsel, who is with U. S. News and World Report, gave a talk at one of the meetings on the Hawaiian Islands. Bill and his wife and four children left Hanover last fall to set up practice anew on the Coast.
Bill Martens has been appointed to the School Board in Chatham, N. J. He has been active in church and civic affairs in that town, serving as president of the Presbyterian Church trustees, P.T.A., Boy Scouts, Heart Fund, Cancer and United Fund campaigns. Bill was with the Pulverizing Machine Company for fifteen years and two years ago he set up his own business as a manufacturer's representative handling chemical process equipment. He and his wife, the former Ernestine Clark of East Orange, have four children, William in tenth grade, Peter in the ninth, Deborah in fifth and Sarah in first.... George Brown, father of three girls, has been elected President of the Board of Education in Hackensack, N. J. George is a member of the law firm, Morrison, Lloyd and Griggs in Hackensack.
Bill Niss has sent me a newspaper item about his former roommate, Fred Gaenslen, who is a noted orthopedist in Milwaukee and who volunteered five weeks of his time, at his own expense, to work and teach in Jordan. Fred reported that he found many cases of bone tuberculosis, polio, and congenital deformities. He saw 450 patients and operated on fifty. In many cases the sufferers would not seek assistance from doctors because they accept defects as the will of Allah. The most memorable case, Fred said, was that of a fourteen-year-old girl with both feet clubbed, who walked on her ankles with toes pointed inward. She came to the hospital from a nomadic tribe because a six-year-old boy in the tribe had a similar deformity corrected by an American doctor. On her, too, the operation was successful. This program is sponsored by MEDICO and the United Nations.

I., Pete Fitzherbert from Auburn, Me., and Bob Keegan of Hudson, Ohio.
An interesting news feature on the Patrick Lumber Co. of Portland, Ore., portrays the handsome face of our Jack Patrick, the president. The article says in part, "The reins of leadership have been taken over by John C. "Jack" Patrick who continues the family business tradition. The company deals in about every species of wood known, from Douglas Fir through Englemann Spruce, not to mention plywood, Cedar shakes and shingles. Patrick is also one of the major wholesale shippers to the railroads in the United States, supplying nearly every railroad, and nearly every item — bridge timbers, stringers, ties, decking for box cars - you name it."
The nominating committee, who are to select a slate of class officers to serve after the 25th reunion, are: Vinnie Went worth. Chairman, Bob MacPherson, Bill Pounder, Al Harrington and Hank Billings. The officer candidates will be announced later and you will have an opportunity to vote for them at the class business meeting in June.
Don't forget to contribute handsomely to the Alumni Fund drive this year. This is the proud fund for Dartmouth that has provided so many "extra" values through the years to the college. Kirk Liggett, our head class agent, is hoping to receive from you the greatest support in our 25 years of alumni giving.
